Benderson Development recently expanded and enhanced its Sarasota portfolio. The University Park, FL-based real estate development company this week acquired two prime properties and celebrated the opening of Publix at The Landings, a major milestone in the dramatic transformation of the shopping center on U.S. 41 south of Proctor Rd.
Benderson closed on the acquisition of the former Café Baci restaurant on 4001 S. Tamiami Trail near the Bee Ridge Rd. intersection.
Earlier in the week, Benderson purchased the Walgreens on the corner of Bee Ridge Rd. and Beneva Rd. The drugstore chain will continue to operate from the over 16,500-square-foot location.
Benderson is known for transforming underperforming properties into thriving destinations that serve the needs and wants of the community, as proved by The Landings. Since purchasing the property from auction in 2012, the company completely renovated and remerchandised the center. This week’s opening of the newly rebuilt Publix marked a major milestone in the property’s significant transformation. The once nearly vacant center is now bustling with a vibrant mix of retail and restaurants, including popular food truck-turned-restaurant Florence and the Spice Boys; The Breakfast Company; Origin Craft Beer & Pizza Café; Apollonia Grill; Starbucks; Mantra Fitness; StretchLab; EoS Fitness; Daruma; DogPerfect; and Tripletail Seafood & Spirits. And there’s even more in store with a new wave of eateries opening soon, including fast-casual Florida chain 3Natives; poke bowl and sushi burrito hotspot Pacific Counter; and nationwide chain Crumbl Cookies.
Founded in 1949, Benderson Development has grown to become one of the nation’s largest privately held real estate companies. The company’s portfolio includes more than 800 properties totaling over 50 million square feet in 40 states. For more information, visit www.bendersondevelopment.com
